Chimps and language

Por Kathryn Stride el 18 de Enero de 2012 17:28

Chimpanzees may have the ability to understand new language according to a new study. The new research comes from a 25 year old chimp who an interpret highly distorted speech sounds in a way similar to humans! (article published in Euro Weekly newspaper).

Scientists now understand that humans' mastery of language could be due to being exposed to language from a young age rather than an innate ability - a case of practice makes perfect!

'Practice makes perfect' is of course one of LanguageLinker's slogans!

We understand that the more you practice speaking and writing in your second language the better you will become and LanguageLinker can assist you alongside your studies - put what you have learnt in class into practice!

We are delighted there is science behind our method of learning languages :0)

Some interesting recent research

Por Kathryn Stride el 21 de Noviembre de 2011 19:07

Understanding emotions doesn't necessarily depend on the language we speak, our perception appears to be the same regardless of our language and culture.

Recent findings suggest that understanding emotional signals is not based on the words we have in our language that describe emotions. Instead, emotions appear to have evolved as a set of basic human mechanisms.
